Customers of the car manufacturer Kia Motors are to be offered a free charging unit, installed at their home, when they purchase an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Anyone buying a new KIA Soul EV, Optima PHEV, Optima Sports Wagon PHEV or Niro PHEV will qualify for a free home charge point from the manufacturer Rolec EV, under a new partnership announced by the two companies.
The two companies have previously worked together with Rolec EV having installed 90 charging points at KIA dealerships across the UK.
Kieron Alsop, managing director of Rolec EV, commented: “We are delighted to have joined with KIA Motors to offer their new EV customers free charging points.
“This free charge point installation offer has been made possible as a result of OLEV grant funding, further subsidised by the KIA Motors and Rolec EV partnership.”
Kia has recently announced a scrappage scheme, offering motorists up to £2,000 for vehicles over seven years old. The incentive can be used to aid the purchase of the car-maker’s new Picanto or Rio models (see airqualitynews.com story).
