Low Emission Bus workshop returns to Birmingham

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership’s free Low Emission Bus workshop is coming to Birmingham, on Tuesday (11 December) at Birmingham Airport.

Designed for bus operators and local authorities, the free to attend LEB Workshop is a chance to learn about the policy framework and to share operational experience of low carbon and low emission solutions for bus fleets from all around the UK. Topics will cover both new bus models and retrofit operations, including exhaust after-treatment solutions.

The workshop will look at some of the latest low emission bus technologies

Endorsed by the Department for Transport, the workshop will provide delegates with the national and local policy context for Low and Ultra Low Emission Buses, as well as Transport for West Midland plans to improve bus services and tackle areas of poor air quality.

Metroline, National Express and Nottingham City Transport will be sharing their experiences with different low and zero emission technologies.

EV consult will talk on the Dutch experience with overcoming operational challenges when introducing electric buses and Volvo will be talking through their OppCharge solution for 24-hour electric bus operation.

There will also be a discussion panel on the role of retrofit, the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme and upcoming CAZ introductions across the UK.

Delegates will receive LowCVP publications “A Green Bus for Every Journey” (20 case studies of LCEBs in operation in the UK) and “The Low Emission Bus Guide” (accredited Low Emission Bus models and fuels eligible for DfT grant support).

There will also be a networking lunch provided, to give delegates the opportunity to meet Low Emission Bus manufacturers, fuel suppliers, vehicle and emission testing providers and CVRAS approved exhaust after treatment companies.

After lunch, delegates will have the opportunity to have a tour of Birmingham Airport Volvo’s electric bus operation using on-route opportunity pantograph charging as well as vehicles from ADL, Scania and Pelican Bus and Coach.
