The panel discussion is always a highlight of an Air Quality Conference and the Northern event did not disappoint in this respect.

As panel discussions go, this was just what you’d want. An observation made by one panelist would be picked up by and developed by another – the success of the session was very much a group effort.

Our five panelists were: Dr Gary Fuller (Imperial London), Andy Frechter (Yunex Traffic), Cllr Eamon O’Brien (portfolio for Clean Air for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority), Hilda Palmer (Trade Union Clean Air Network) and Dr Rhys Archer (The SAMHE Project).

The panel was chaired by our host for the day, Beverley Nielsen.

Discussions ranged from the poor air quality that a huge amount of working people have to endure to earn a living, Clean Air Zones, how best to communicate our message to the general public and whether we need to enforce our current laws more effectively
