Technology retailer Dixons Carphone has committed to transitioning its fleet to fully electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030.
This commitment has come after Dixons Carphone, which is a merge of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse Group, has joined the EV100 campaign.
The Climate Group launched their EV100 campaign earlier this year, with an aim to encourage companies to accelerate the transition towards EVs.
Businesses own over half of all new registered vehicles on the road, therefore, The Climate Group has said it is crucial that companies lead the shift to electric vehicles.
The technology retailer, along with many other major companies such as AstraZeneca, EDF group and E.ON will switch all of their commercial fleets to electric and alternative fuel vehicles by 2030.
In addition to switching to EV’s, Dixons Carphone will also install EV charging points wherever possible across their estate.
The company will also incorporate Miles Per Gallon (MPG) targets for each of its drivers to ensure a year-on-year reduction of CO2 emissions.

‘The transport sector is the fastest-growing contributor to climate change, accounting for around a quarter of global energy-related greenhouse gas emissions — we need major companies everywhere to switch their fleets to EV.’
