A new air pollution calculator will enable the public to better understand how their lifestyle choices affect the quality of the air we all breathe.
The charity behind Clean Air Day, Global Action Plan has teamed up with Imperial College London to launch the new online air pollution calculator.
The calculator is designed to provide the public with an indicator of their personal contribution to air pollution by focusing on how their travel choices and the use of wood-burning stoves.
The calculator will also provide the public with meaningful guidance on how they can reduce air pollution by changing their habits.
It will also connect people to the Clean Air Hub, where they can access more in-depth information about air pollution.
Larissa Lockwood, director of clean air at Global Action Plan, said: ‘Being able to understand our own personal contribution to air pollution is the first step towards being able to reduce it.
‘I am therefore delighted to be launching the UK’s first personal Air Pollution Calculator that does just that, as well as providing useful tips on what to do to reduce it.
‘Armed with this knowledge we can then all play our part to improve the air we breathe on Clean Air Day and beyond. As we experienced earlier this year, air pollution is solvable, and together we can keep our air clean.’
